    Dear Birders:

For the second year in a row, a pair of Bewick's Wrens has selected an
Agave next to UC Botanical Garden's office as a place to rear their brood.
It's the ultimate fortress with the nest deep down in the plant where
it's protected by the dangerous spines along the edge of each agave leaf. A
few minutes of watching will be rewarding by seeing the adults coming and going
    with food.

The Hooded Orioles are in residence now, so nest building should commence, most
likely in one of the palms next to the big greenhouse and meeting room.
