    Steve,
I saw a pair of Black Oystercatchers last Sat. at Pt. Isabel. I took the
Bayview exit (in Richmond) and turned left at Pt. Isabel Ct.--parking just
past the 2 large propane tanks. Take the trail out to the bay, turn right
(north) and walk for about 10 minutes until you reach the first mudflat
that is fairly adjacent to the trail. They were on the south end of the
mudflat, next to the rocks that jut out into the water. They were very
noisy--they have a unique call that carries far.

Regarding tattlers, the last ones I saw were last May at Marina Park in
Fremont. I walked on the grassy jetty (there are 2 parallel trails) to
near the end and scoped the island just off shore. I haven't looked for
    them there this year.
