Group met with EBRPD today....did see male harrier and 2 kites competing for territory.....
EBRPD is going to buffer some of the area where Harriers have nested in the Berkeley Meadow since 1994.... However, they still need evidence of
Harrier nesting from observations of certain characteristic behaviors:
....bringing sticks, food drops, courting, mating, diving down and staying or emerging from ground area of dense weedy vegetation in nw quadrant...
volunteers needed to go out and observe, record, take photos if possible, and report data of sitings to EBB and Brad Olson EBRPD 544-2622, or Doug Bell EBRPD 544-2341, and Roxanne Bowers, Fish & Game 758-1024
Observers are needed at dawn, dusk, and midday... We need people to do this right away... Rusty Scalf is going at dawn tomorrwo, I will go
at dusk tomorrow...
.......................please let me know through EBB...please pass this mssg. on to other experienced birders....
.............thanx... Corinne 526-3593
