Today, 1/19/09 at noontime, a PRARIE FALCON was chasing a large flock of Rock Pigeons that were feeding in the large fallow field west of Ohlone College on Cherry in Newark. It took one half hearted dive above the flock, which flushed them into the air and away from the campus. The PRARIE FALCON continued to circle the field for about 5 minutes before moving on. I'm sure this is the same bird that had been seen between Coyote Hills and AutoMall Expressway in Fremont.
The field is accessed from the parking lot behind the new campus. There is a small pond and viewing area 200 yards west of the parking lot, towards the train tracks.
