The Sunday installment of Albany Adult School's class was delighted by the sight of 29 Wood Ducks 'loafing' on the side of a channel in what used to be the bottom of San Leandro Reservoir. This is the same spot described by Bob Lewis yesterday. We could only see the channel bank facing us, and not all of that. I wonder how many were actually there...

Other highlights included a Peregrine Falcon, 2 Golden Eagles and courting Red-tails. It was interesting to see flock of 20 Yellow-rumped Warblers foraging in the middle of a large field like Pipits. The field must have been bugier than the nearby Monterey Pine and Live Oaks.

Wintering sparrows seemed really low, as has been my experience all over California this season.
