Happy New Year all,
Sat.PM to the South of Powell St along the rip-rap roosting area was a small
flock of American Wigeons, very close to shore. Among them was one male
Eurasain Wigeon. Also large rafts of Scaup and Ruddies. Roosting were the
usual Willets, Godwits, some Whimbrels and one Dunlin and a Spotted Sandpiper.
Today, Sun. PM at low tide at Point Emery on the South side and at the point
were 2 pairs of Black Oystercatchers and a small flock of Black Turnstones.
Also, more Wigeons , but no Eurasians.
At Ceasar Chavez the Burrowing Owl is very cooperative in the newly fenced
off area, near the bend in the path. Aloong with the Ruddies, Buffleheads and
Scaups were some female Common Goldeneyes
In the Meadow area was a a Red Tail Hawk perched in a tree and two White
Tailed Kites, perched in a low tree to the north of the trail, being harrassed
by a Raven. Also seen were lots of White Crowned Sparrows, a Song Sparrow and
an Orange Crowned Warbler. A Brown Pelican flew over.
New year...new news. Be the first to know what is making headlines.
