On March 1, 2003 a female Orange Bishop visited my yard/birdbath. Then
during the following winter of either 2003 or 2004 a male visited. In the
National Geographic field guide it mentions there are populations
established in the Los Angeles and Phoenix areas. When I saw my birds I was
told by someone knowledgeable that there is an established population in the
Bay Area.
Subsequent to my sightings, one of my nearby neighbors also saw a male. He
was very puzzled about this strange bird until I told him to consider that
it was an Orange Bishop male he saw. As far as I know, neither of us has
seen the bird again in our neighborhood since.
This reported bird may not be an escapee - or it may.

I assumed this was an escapee. Am I wrong?

Has anyone tried the Orange Bishop again? I want to journey down there, but
it is a decent drive.
