    Birders:

    At 12:40 today I located a/the previously-reported Red-necked Grebe
at Pt. Isabel. It was foraging at the mouth of the 'lagoon' that
forms at high tide on the extreme north side of the dog park. The
lagoon is bounded on the east by the Bay Trail shoreline and on the
north by a narrow rock jetty. A Horned Grebe nearby provided a nice
    comparison.

I did not visit the Berkeley Pier to see whether a/the Red-necked
Grebe reported there was also present, so don't know whether my
Contra Costa County bird is the same, or a different, individual.

I also looked for the unusual sparrows that have been reported lately
along the Bay Trail near the dog park -- White-throated, Harris's,
and Clay-colored -- but found none of them. Three other birders
present also reported no sparrow success today.
