A couple of us went to Berkeley Aquatic Park looking for the continuing
Northern Waterthrush today. We first looked around 9 AM at the northeast
corner of the south pond. As Steve Huckabone wrote, it is not the best
place to go birding. We seemed to be interrupting some business there.
Didn't find it the first time, walked around the middle pond, went inside
the bushes again and didn't find it then either. We did find a Hermit
Thrush, CA Towhee, numerous Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Song, a White-crowned
and Golden-crowned Sparrow and Chestnut-backed Chickadees.

Took a run up to the race track and found two Eurasian Wigeons with all the
Americans and other ducks at the end of Buchanan. Behind the Sea Breeze at
University we had two more Eurasian Wigeons. At Pt. Emery we found a small
flock of Sanderlings and a few Least Sandpipers.

Tried a third time for the Northern Waterthrush and were successful. This
time we even had a Red-breasted Nuthatch taking a bath in the little bit of
water flowing in at the very corner.

The Northern Waterthrush is very furtive, hard to see because it is well
inside the overhanging vegetation. If you go there, I would recommend going
with a partner; at least one of you should be male.

Also in the pond were some N. Shovelers, Stilts, Avocets, Greater Yellowlegs
    and Dowitchers.
