Hello E. B. Birders,
At McNabney Marsh in Martinez this morning (Waterbird
Regional Park), there was a single White-faced Ibis
which joined dowitchers, stilts and various eclipse
plumaged dabbling ducks on a small island. It was
seen from the area near the bench on the hillside
south of the parking lot.
There were at least nine Red-necked Phalaropes on the
marsh, and four Yellow Warblers were in the fennel and
Eucalyptus trees. Great-tailed Grackles were at every
turn, with one, lone female type in flight lacking a
tail was quite a puzzling identification treat. A
single Eurasian Collared-Dove flew over the parking
lot.
We were not able to locate the ibis from the
observation platform on the west side of the marsh
later in the day.
All the Best Birding,
Denise Wight
