I have a couple of small artificial ponds in my yard each fed by
small artificial streams. Over the couple of years since I've put
them in, I've had all sorts of birds bathe in the streams, ranging
from Cooper's Hawks and Western Screech Owls to Chestnut-backed
    Chickadees and Anna's Hummingbirds.

Today I witnessed something different. Instead of wading in the
shallows of one of the streams, a small bird plunged into the deepest
part of a pond, then flew off to preen on a nearby branch. I didn't
get a great look at the bird, it was backlit and behind some leaves,
but I'm pretty sure it was a Warbling Vireo (dull yellowish green,
pointy beak, white eye brow), though any other possible suggestions
    would be welcome.

I've seen a Great Kiskadee bathe in a similar fashion, but I was
wondering if this is unusual for such a small bird and if other birds
    bath similarly?

    Thanks,
