The Mt. Diablo Audubon Society field trip to Mines Road produced most of the
birds seen by others in the last week or two. When it was all totaled, we
had 82 species for the day. Notable sightings follow.

Murietta's Well: The Great Horned Owl was on the nest. Bullock's Oriole,
    Eurasian Collared-Dove, Pacific-slope Flycatcher.

Del Valle Regional Park: We visit the beach to the left after the entry
kiosk and the bridge. Spotted Sandpiper, Coots with chicks, Green Heron,
Forster's Tern, Wilson's Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler,
Warbling Vireo, Ash-throated Flycatcher, White-throated Swift.

MP 5.75 and up the hill: Two California Thrashers, Bewick's Wren,
    Olive-sided Flycatcher, Rufous-crowned Sparrow (heard).

MP 17.6: Band-tailed Pigeon behind the corral area.

Old CDF fire station near the Junction: Bullock's Oriole, the House Finch
nest in the cactus, Western Wood-Pewee (heard).

Lewis' Woodpecker 1/2 mile south of the Junction.

Wood Ducks at the pond on the east another couple of miles south, plus
    Tri-colored Blackbirds.

Far southern end of San Antonio Valley another 3-4 miles along (thanks to
David Quady and Golden Gate Audubon Society): Western Kingbird, Chipping
Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, Western Wood-Pewee and just a couple of brief
glimpses of the elusive Lawrence's Goldfinch.
