Here are some photos of some recent spring migrants in the East Bay:

Rufous Hummingbird, Garin Regional Park, 6 April

Hammond's Flycatcher, Mitchell Canyon, Mt. Diablo State Park, 13 April

We didn't hear this bird call, but based the ID on the grayish color,
stocky, large-headed shape; short, deeply notched tail; long primary
projection; "vested" breast; teardrop-shaped eyering; and short, dark bill.

Dusky Flycatcher, Mitchell Canyon, Mt. Diablo State Park, 13 April

We saw this bird immediately after seeing the Hammond's, and heard it
give the characteristic soft "whit" or "whip" call. We also noted,
compared to the Hammond's, the longer, less deeply notched tail; shorter
primary projection; more slender build; narrower eyering; distinct white
lores, and longer bill. One mark that does not fit Dusky is the
yellowish lower mandible; Dusky Flycatcher is supposed to have a dark
outer half of the lower mandible. Mid-April is considered early for
Dusky Flycatcher, but there have been a couple of other reports in the
    state around the same time.

The two flycatchers were seen while birding with Mark Rauzon, Pat
Bacchetti and Carol Chetkovich. Comments and corrections on the IDs are
    welcome.
