Today was the annual field trip to Garin Regional Park by the Mt. Diablo
Audubon Society. It was cold in the morning and stayed cool all day. We
walked past Jordan Pond and took the Dry Creek Trail to the end and returned
on the High Ridge Loop Trail. In the first picnic areas and even the
parking lot, we saw and heard BULLOCK'S ORIOLES. On the heavily wooded
creekside trail we heard numerous WILSON'S WARBLERS, saw several
PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS, found an elusive ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and
    heard a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK.

    RED-TAILED HAWKS, a pair of GOLDEN EAGLES, a WHITE-TAILED KITE, a
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK nest, COOPER'S HAWKS and KESTRELS filled in the raptor
    column.

Just as we re-crossed the creek back to the picnic area, a small flock was
seen high in the trees. It consisted of both AUDUBON'S and MYRTLE WARBLERS,
a WARBLING VIREO and a BLACK-AND WHITE WARBLER. This crossing is located
just beyond a large electrical box and a white plastic porta-potty, which
are near the end of the first portion of the picnic area, when walking from
the parking lot towards Jordon Pond. Further searching after lunch could
not re-locate the BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, though we did find a mixed flock
    downstream of the crossing.

Altogether we heard or saw 57 species.
