This morning I birded Dry Creek Gardens on May Rd.
(east side of Mission Blvd. across from Whipple Rd.)
in Union City. The gardens are open every Thurs. from
    10 a.m. to 4 p.m. & one Sat. a month (forget which).
The first noteworthy bird spotted was a white striped
adult WHITE-THROATED SPARROW I came upon just as it
flew up out of the creek to dry off after its bath,
stting in an oak at eye level. (I circled the gardens
    2 or 3 times & didn't relocate it.) A male BULLOCK'S
ORIOLE was calling from the tallest eucalyptus tree,
then flew north towards Garin Park just before noon.
Also seen working eucalyptus & oaks was a BROWN
CREEPER. I heard at least 2 others, maybe more. A few
PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS were calling back & forth.
For, the first time I also heard their "chrrip" call
and even heard a male sing his song a couple of times.
My research at Birds of NA Online says that the male
song is "given commonly during early phases of [the]
nesting cycle, but after pair formation sings only at
    day-break".
I found little place is a nice location to sit &
    relax.
