    EBBer's-

This morning at 7:30 AM Alex Navarro and I found MacGillivray's, Wilson's, and Yellow Warblers along the Curran Trail. Just as Denise Wight described, all were in Blue Elderberry shrubs, past the large eucalyptus grove at the start of the trail. All were singing. A Wrentit also popped out of the chaparral long enough to have his picture taken by Alex.

At 9:30, as the wind picked up and I headed back down Wildcat Canyon Road to work, I stopped at the pullout about 1/2 mile above El Toyanal Dr. An oak tree was filled with singing birds. It held a beautiful Hermit Warbler male, Wilson's, and another MacGillivray's, making it a 4-warbler day. The tree is on the northwest side of the road, opposite the snags that the Olive-Sided Flycatcher was singing from.

    Other birds seen were:

    Brown Creeper
    Pacific Slope Flycatcher
    Band-Tailed Pigeon
    Northern Rough-Winged Swallows
    Spotted Towhee
    Song Sparrow
    Dark-eyed Juncos on nest
    Bushtits
    Allen's Hummingbird

To end the day, I went out to the Richmond waterfront, hoping for the Long-Tailed Duck. Unfortunately, it was residing in Berkeley today as I read later. But Black Oystercatchers, Black Turnstones, Least Sandpipers, Semi-Palmated Plovers, Clark's and Western Grebes, Scaup, and Surf Scoters entertained me until it got too cold.

Four warblers makes for very good day, even with work.
