This morning I visited Meeker Slough and a couple of other edges along the
bay before attending my monthly union meeting. In about two hours I had 37
species, but the highlight was one of the first birds I saw.

After entering the bayside trail from S. 51st Street and then turning right,
I heard and saw crows in some trees behind the mudflat-like ponds. I looked
with my binoculars at the crows and found a Peregrine Falcon sitting in a
mostly bare tree. I watched for 10-15 minutes hoping another birder would
happen along. The bikers and joggers didn't seem too interested in what I
    was watching.

The other birds included many ducks, shorebirds and a few passerines,
nothing particularly outstanding. I did see a Black Oystercatcher way out
on the rocks with some gulls, godwits and a Black Turnstone.

I also stopped on Buchanan on the north side of the race track, as well as
taking a look behind the Sea Breeze at University.
