This male Wood Duck was pointed out to me by fellow
birder, Alex Navarro.
It has taken up residence in a very small man-made
pond at the Civic Center in Union City (corner of
Alvarado-Niles and Royal Anne Drive, left on
Alvarado-Niles exit off 880S).
He has pair-bonded with a female Mallard and avidly
defends her against all suspected suitors. They are
inseparable and swim about together.
Easily viewed, quite handsome, and fun to watch as he
defends his mate and even comes out of the pond to
feed on(posted-prohibited) handouts from human
feeders.

The pond otherwise has Mallards, Canadas, and Widgeons
along with turtles and some very large carp.
