Wandered down to the lake this afternoon to scope things out for the
GGAS walk tomorrow, and walked up behind what appeared to be a bird with
the body of a Canada Goose, a snow-white head and neck, and a brilliant
yellow bill - all in proportion. Then, of course, the grazing goose took
another coupla steps, revealing the alert Western Gull standing on the
far side... but it had me going for a while there.
Except for the goldeneyes, most of the winter visitors are still there -
with the Ruddy Ducks and Eared Grebes coming into their mating plumage.
The Tufted Duck is still at the nature center.
