I've been reading these postings for a while but finally am making a posting
myself. :)
I was out by the fishing pier near Don Edwards and walked north of the
Dumbarton for a while at low tide. It was very muddy but worth the effort.
The Avocets, Marbled Godwits and Willets were there in abundance which made
for some beautiful groups of flying birds. There were a few Scaup (I won't
guess as to Greater or Lesser), a Canvasback and some American Wigeons to
round out the waterfowl. A few Black-Bellied Plovers allowed me to get
close enough for some good shots. I also saw 1 Surf Scoter, 1 Western
Grebe, and several Ruddy Turnstones whose orange feet are unmistakable. I
am fairly sure I saw a Semi-Palmated Plover and an American Pipit, the
latter of which was quite a surprise out there.
Good birding!! Thanks for all of your posts to this board. I read them
with great interest. I just wish I had the time to go out and try to
photograph all of these great sightings.
