I am a hummingbird bander, affiliated with the Hummingbird Monitoring
    Network (http://www.hummonnet.org/), a non-profit organization concerned
with hummingbird research. Our primary mission is the conservation of
these birds and the habitat they need to survive. The organization
consists of a network of hummingbird banding stations in California,
Arizona, Colorado, and British Columbia, operating under a standardized
protocol; we capture the hummers, band them with US Fish & Wildlife
Service bands, collect data on their condition, and release them
unharmed within 20 minutes of capture. I operate one station near
Scotts Valley in the Santa Cruz Mountains and would like to set up a
second site in the East Bay hills.

We are hoping for a place located on the east slope of the hills and at
some elevation, ideally 1000 ft or more. It needs to be within the
north/south boundaries of Hayward to Mission Peak. Ideally it should
be acreage of open oak grassland, though other habitat might be
considered. A private residence or secure public land would be good.
Owners of the site would have to maintain 5 hummingbird feeders for
several months. Once a site is established, interested individuals
might be trained to assist in the banding operation, primarily removing
birds from the traps and recording banding data.

I would appreciate any help you can offer. If you know of some place
that might be suitable, please contact me:
