    Lisa and all,
    American Goldfinches are indeed well known for nesting
    relatively late in the season in comparison with our
    other breeding passerines. The Contra Costa County
    atlas found adults feeding fledlings as late as
    mid-Sept. The Monterey atlas found fledglings on
    September 7th and eggs as late as early August. I
    suspect are we are nearing the end of the real peak
    right about now but new fledglings may be found for
    another two full months.
