    Odds are that your white bird was an escaped or lost
    domestic pigeon. Several folks in the Bay Area release
    white doves; they are more rock dove size than
    mourning dove size. A white BtPi is certainly
    possible, tho.
    
    When those male hummer hormones are flowing, they will
    pretty much get into anybody's face, including mine!
    I've even seen one attack a mylar balloon caught in
    the huckleberries (that metallic sheen probably
    mimiced the glint off metallic feathers). I had to
    body surf the bushes into the canyon to get the
    balloon; otherwise, it looked as tho that hummer would
    exhaust itself trying to "drive off a competitor".
    There are a lot of instinctive behaviors in birds,
    which can be triggered by abnormal stimuli.
