First, I want to apologize for the lazy abbreviation I
used in my last post. "L. Bunting" is "Lazuli
    Bunting", not Lark.
I was able to go to Winton Ave. again today, before
lunch. The Lazuli Bunting I heard yesterday on the
south side of the slough was perched conspicuously on
top of a large bush. Indeed, it is an adult male. The
immature male was answering, again, from the north
side. Just before I left, I was observing the adult
male when a female Lazuli Bunting flew up & westward.
    So, there are 3!
Also sighted was a Western Kingbird, next to the
landfill. And, a Black-headed Grosbeak was singing in
the Eucalyptis trees next to the entrance to the
trail. It came out to perch on the bare branches next
to the bottle brush & I called it a female (without my
guide in hand). After looking at 2 pics I snapped
    quickly & consulting Sibley's I realized it was a
first year male BH Grosbeak. (All white supercilium,
unstreaked breast & yellow stripe down the center of
    the breast.)
I imagine the Kingbird & Grosbeak are migrants? Since
both male Lazulis are clinging to the same locations &
conspicuously singing might they hang around a while?
