Was out photgraphing a displaying Wrentit along the creek, when 2
birders approached asking if they would disrupt anyting if they passed.
It was such a pleasure to experience the courtesy and respect for the
patience and effort of photography. Wrentits were in abundance as well
as Oak Titmouse. Onleaving I heard a thumping type of sound much like
I've heard and seen in Leonard Rue's photographing grouse tape. I was
quite suprised as I hadn't seen grouse there. The thumper observed me
and took off without me identifying it. From the rustle in the scrub a
female wild turkey emerged and sauntered down the path enabling me to
photograph her before and after she backtracked thru the shrubs. (A few
weeks ago my friend Martha and I witnessed elaborate turkey displays and
mating befor the entrance (3 males displaying, 2 females participating
    and ~ 8 uninterested females).
Closer to the entrance a white breasted nuthatch was singing his heart
out looking for the best vantage point when a Nuttall's wood pecker
chased him away. I also saw other woodpecker activity further up the
trail in a dead tree on the stream side.
