I was at L.Merritt & Merritt Channel Saturday afternoon, looking for
the various reported species. Highlights are:
Channel
Hooded Merganser - 1 male
Tufted Duck - 1 male, very small tuft
Barrow's Goldeneye - 20
Common Goldeneye - 40
American Wigeon - 1 male
Not found - Hooded/Barrows hybrid
L.Merritt Channel corner
Barrow's Goldeneye - 3
Common Goldeneye - 6
Not found - Hooded/Barrows hybrid
Refuge area
Ring-necked Duck - 1 female
Red-breasted Merganser - pair
Western Grebe - 1
Common Goldeneye - 25
Parklands
Varied Thrush - 1
Black Phoebe - pair working on nest used last 2 years
