Varied Thrushes continue at Huckleberry Preserve in Oakland. There were at
least six of them along the section of the Skyline Trail which links
Huckleberry Path and Huckleberry Trail (at least I think that's the correct
name for it). Most were, as usual, not well seen, but one very bright male
was out on a bay tree with a Tanoak acorn in his beak. Since I don't think
thrushes eat acorns, I can only conclude that he was trying to figure out
what to do with this gigantic hard-shelled berry he'd picked up.
