My wife and I paid a quick visit to Byron Hot Springs Road south of
Holey Road early this afternoon in search of owls. We failed to see
owls of any kind, but we did get nice views of 3 Ferruginous Hawks: 2 in
the fields east of Byron Hot Springs Road (opposite the Short-eared Owl
area) and a third soaring over the hills south of the bend in the road.
The only other raptors were 1 Red-tail, 2 Kites, and several Harriers.
