My husband and I took a trip to Pt. Pinole this afternoon. We saw mostly
just the usual suspects, but ran across this beauty as the sun was going
    down.
At first we thought it was as a golden eagle, but when it flew (to
investigate our great horned owl immitation calls) we saw lots of white
under the wings and think that it is most likely an immature bald eagle. We
were able to get this digiscoped picture of it (don't have much experience,
so our apologies about the quality).

We are curious about the growths seen under the birds beak and above it's
eyes (actually seen on both sides of the head). Any ideas what these could
be? Do you think this could be life-threatening? The bird appeared quite
alert and not at all ill. As some may consider this off-topic feel free to
    reply off the list.
