Not a real rarity, but in the event this is in one of the CoCo count
circles, figured I'd post it. I pretty routinely see a shrike near
Franklin Canyon off of Highway 4, between Hercules and Martinez. I
see it in the morning (around 8), heading eastbound on Hwy 4, past
the Franklin Canyon pulloff, under the railroad overpass, and on a
wire a few hundred feet up the hill on the right. I've never stopped
to take a closer look, but it appears you can get off of Hwy 4
immediately before the railroad trestle and then head up hill
    parallel to the hwy.

I'm guessing this is a loggerhead and not northern since I first saw
it a few months ago... I'll wait until I'm not going past at 70mph
to make a positive ID though! :)

Also had a first-of-season Hermit Thrush in our yard this morning, in
Richmond View near Wildcat Canyon. Seems to be a good year for Fox
Sparrows as well- we often have 3 at once, and probably at least 5
    total.

    Good birding,

    Alan
