Around 1983 I lived on Greenly Drive, Oakland, near Keller Ave. & Hwy 580.
One morning I spotted a Chukar walking across my driveway. About 5 houses
down the road they had some turkeys and other game birds (can't remember
what) caged in the yard. You could hear them, but not see into the yard. I
assumed the Chukar was an escape from that yard. An escaped captive is
probably the explanation for any Chukar sightings in the East Bay.
