    Speaking of dramatic accipiters encounters...last week, I was minding my own business, sitting under my backyard fig tree, watching my aviary of captive cockatiels. Suddenly, an accipiter flew by my face, so close that I could feel the air off her wings. As she rose to top our back fence, I clearly saw the straight edge to her tail, making her a fine, fair sharp shinned hawk. Guess she appreciates the aviary, too.
