Hi Folks,
Had a brief visit from a Western Tanager this morning. This is
only our second or third sighting here (in the hills on the richmond
side of the El Cerrito border, near Wildcat Canyon Park). Black-
headed grosbeak numbers seem lower than 2 weeks ago, but Lesser and
American Goldfinches are in huge numbers. They are emptying a double-
size thistle sock in a day or two. I may need to take out a loan to
keep them fed!
I just got back from France, unfortunately only getting to bird
in fairly urban areas. Still, it was fun to see some familiar birds
with unfamiliar names, like Wren, and Sand Martin, and some
unfamiliar birds with familiar names (robin, blackbird).
Cheers
Alan
