    Hi everyone-
I was just out watering my garden at about 8:45 and heard what I
first thought was a funny sounding black-headed grosbeak calling
about 15 feet away in a plum tree. However, when it flew to another
plum tree I was thrilled to see a beautiful ADULT MALE ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK. We've had some late-fall/winter grosbeaks at our feeder
that look closer to Rose-breasted females than Black-headed based on
the field guides, but this guy was unmistakable.

We are at the corner of Taft Ave and Kensington Ave in "Richmond
View" (unincorporated Contra Costa County, near Wildcat Canyon
Regional Park. House is the 1.5 story between the two homes for sale,
and the bird was in the yellow plum tree that's growing out of the
low fig tree just on the other side of our deer fence. At the
present time I'll ask people stay on the sidewalk if they come to
look for it, but if the bird returns and starts joining the throngs
of black-headed grosbeaks at the feeder behind the house, will see
about welcoming people (I'm not the only one at the house so will
    have to check).

       well, this made my day!

    Cheers

    Alan
