I squeezed some birding between errands in the East Bay today. There were
at least seven RED-NECKED PHALAROPES in the ponds to the south of SR92 just
oevr the Hayward Bridge on the Hayward side. It was difficult to get a more
accurate count at 55 MPH. But I clearly saw the black cap and narrow bill
    on these small, swimming shorebirds.

I took a noontime walk along the Ridge Trail at Sobrante Ridge Regional
Park, from the Conestoga Entrance to the summit. Nothing all that unusual
for California oak habitat. Oddly, I had no Black-throated Gray Warblers,
but I had two WILSON'S WARBLERS, one ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and a singing
MacGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER. Pretty little park, too - the views are
spectacular. I kept hoping that the sun would burn through the overcast,
and that the trees would be alive with singing birds. But alas, that's not
    what happened.

    Good birding -
