Birding on Sunday, April 9 around Cull Canyon
Reservoir:
Spring birds: A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was seen at the
bridge to the swim lagoon. Also swallows and a
selasphorus hummingbird.
A huge amount of silt has come down this winter into
the lake and the stream above the lake. At least one
of the green herons is still fishing the muddy lake
waters. Kildeer were enjoying the new enlarged
silt-bars at the north end of the lake (these may be
the same kildeer that hung out on the Canyon Middle
School soccer fields back in December.) The ruddy
ducks and ring-necked ducks are looking quite
handsome.
