The Albany Adult School "Birding Basics" class had a great day at MLK
shoreline this morning. Along the walkway from the End of Edgewater toward
Arrowhead Marsh we had about 5 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES. At the marsh we had all
three teal, including two male BLUE-WINGED TEAL. In the goose flock were at
least four CACKLING GEESE and six WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. A beautiful MERLIN
was perched in a tall pine tree on the walk back from the marsh. It was a
very dark bird. And back near the parking lot we turned up the HOUSE WREN
reported here a while ago by Bob Power. Oh yes, Clapper Rails were calling
constantly during our walk, and we sighted two of them from the pier.
