In the last ten days I've seen Hooded Mergansers in five locations, 4
while biking:

Male and female at Aquatic Park in Berkeley
Male in Alameda Creek, about a mile east of 880
Male at Upper San Leander Reservoir=20
Male at Shadow Cliffs in Pleasanton

Other than sightings mentioned by others, only other ones of recent
interest would be a Loggerhead Shrike at the pond just south of the
entrance road to the Oakland Airport on Doolittle Drive and a female
Ring-Necked Pheasant at Coyote Hills. But the best view of all was of
Blue-winged, Green-winged and Cinnamon Teal all in one view in the
bingos off the boardwalk at MLK Shoreline.
