The Northern Waterthrush was present in the willows on the east side of the
south pond (where the two roads come together) at mid-day on Thursday, Jan
12, 2006. It was well seen by four observers and videotaped by one. It
moves back and forth in the willows, but stayed in a 25-foot area right
around the junction yesterday. It tossed leaves, took a bath, and walked
about generally being cooperative. It disappears for long lengths of time
(it's a small bird in tangled vegetation), but patience will be rewarded.
It's far prettier than any of the illustrations in bird books would indicate.
