[EBB Sightings] Red Phalarope at Laf. Reservoir

This morning I viewed the Red Phalarope at the NW corner of the =
Lafayette Reservoir.  It was in the corner of the water by the dam and a =
picnic table at the waters edge.  It was very active.

It had an interesting black line across it's breast just above =
waterline.  Upon checking the field guide I saw it did not have such a =
field mark.  So, is it a stain (oil?) and certainly it didn't get it in =
the reservoir.
