My wife and I were at Hayward Regional Shoreline this afternoon and
found one dead Red Phalarope (with adjacent scattered feathers) on the
edge of the trail, far from the bay shore, 100 yards south of the trail
junction at the SE corner of Mt Trashmore. We also found a couple other
feather piles which we suspected were also perished phalaropes. Perhaps
the recent storms are driving them into the bay, where they are
unfamiliar with the local predators?
