Hi EBBs,
Yesterday, for the third year, a white-throated sparrow appeared in my =
backyard. The sparrow was foraging around on the ground below a =
hanging feeder and appeared three times over a period of about two =
hours. Seems like quite a few have been reported. My house is located =
in Walnut Creek, west of 680 and about 1-2 miles south of Larkey Park.
While seated at my computer, I have a great view of about half my =
backyard. I have a very visible birdbath, two wire-cage suet feeders, a =
hanging platform feeder, and a cylindrical squirrel feeder in this area. =
. Also of note, a yellow-rumped warbler (Audubon's) has been feeding at =
one of the suet feeders. In addition, these suet feeders attract =
Nuttal's and downey woodpeckers, scrub jays ( :-( ), cb chicadees, and =
a wintering ruby-crowned kinglet. Quite a few white- and gold-crowned =
sparrows and juncos are wintering here, as well. This is the greatest =
time of the year for observing our feathered friends.
