Mid-day Thursday, we saw at least 15 Red Phalaropes at Elsie Roemer Bird =
Sanctuary, near the southwest end of Alameda. We watched a Merlin try =
valiantly but unsuccessfully to catch one of them. Virginia Rails and =
    Soras were calling.

At 3 PM, there were 8 Red Phalaropes at the south end of Lake Merritt, =
in the bay at East 18th Street. There were at least 20 Barrow's =
Goldeneyes, male and female, distributed over the east half of Lake =
Merritt. We did not see a Tufted Duck.

The female Black-and-White Warbler was refound in a nice mixed flock =
along the west side of Perkins Street, near the Lake Merritt visitor =
    center.

High tide at Arrowhead Marsh (MLK Regional Shoreline) was at 10 AM and =
there were lots of Clapper Rails and two Soras heard and easily visible =
close to the marsh pier. These very high tides will continue at very =
convenient times for the next couple days, so if you want a Clapper fix, =
    take a look.
