As mentioned being the a novice birder I appreciate your help. The reasons that suggested to me that it was something different than a Red-tail Hawk, Cooper's Hawk or Red-shouldered Hawk was based on the size and strong white breast mottled with a dark brown. IN the Northgate/Shell Ridge of WC we have alot of open space and often see the above mentioned hawks, which to be appear to be smaller and of different color than the one I saw. Unfortunately I'm not up to speed on gathering all details when sighting something new and exciting. (Will continue to work on that) I don"t recall anymore details, was just taken back my the size and color. As mentioned by Randy perhaps it was a Rough-legged Hawk or the Ferriginous Hawk. PS: Binoculars in my golf bag would really be fatal, I have enought problems with the game already!!! Bear with us rookies --------------------------------- Yahoo!
