    Hi Sharon et al,

I am told that a young Goshawk was recently seen at Hawk Hill in Marin. I think they average about one a year on their Hawk Watch. I just checked the annual numbers from their web page:

      http://www.ggro.org/research.html

    For years 2000-2004 they saw 3, 2, 1, 0, 1, 0

I think the eastern population is somewhat migratory, and I often wonder if the occasional coastal sighting isn't a long distance vagrant. Myself, I have never seen the bird below 5000 ft.

Keep in mind that a Red-tail can look like absolutely anything in the world.

Have you ever seen an immature Red-shouldered Hawk? They can be a bit puzzling.
