Thanks Eugenia - I've had numerous similar comments so
I thought I would point out to the list that Rusty
Scalf emailed me yesterday to suggest that it was not
a hybrid, but actually a mallard in "eclipse plumage",
which is basically an intermediate post-molt phase.
After some research of my own, it is clear that he is
correct. Hope you all find this useful. I had no
idea there was such a thing. Thanks again Rusty.
