I birded West Winton Ave and the shore this mid-morning. It was high tide
when I got to the shore and in Frank's tract there were many thousands of
shorebirds, a couple thousand godwits were most conspicious. I didn't have a scope
but saw both turnstones, snowy, semiplamated black-bellied plovers. There were a
lot of birds on move. On the way back almost to the parking lot, I had a
brief look at what I'm calling a Clay-colored Sparrow juvenile along with a
Pacific slope flycatcher in the fennel. This was near where the trail begins, but I
believe it flew off.
Also does anyone know what all the heavy construction equipment, dumping and
leveling of ground is for? Please reply off-line.
Thanks.
