Dear Birders:
In response to Alan Krakaeur's Lincoln's sparrow, Emilie Strauss saw one =
yesterday in the heavy brush along the Pack Rat trail in the Tilden =
Nature Area.
It's a quiet time in my Berkeley Hills garden (near LHS) and only the =
double "chirrup" of the western tanager tells me that early fall is =
here. I still have flocks of lesser goldfinch in various plumage coming =
to the niger feeder and a flock of juncoes to the millet -- nothing =
special about juncoes except that during the summer I may have two or =
three not this boisterous bunch that usually doesn't appear until next =
month.
Except of seeing a very blue adult little blue egret in the fresh-water =
marsh in Goleta, I saw nothing of note during my long stay in Santa =
Barbara. Without local mudflats, SB has few shorebirds -- nothing like =
the legions that come and go from places like the Hayward Shore.
It's good to be back!!
