Six Greater Scaup returned to Albany on Tuesday, two Pelagic Cormorants were
on the northern breakwater at the Berkeley Marina on Thursday, and the first
Spotted Sandpiper flew past us near the closed Virginia St trail. We've
missed seeing the harrier and kites that seem to have abandoned the fields north
of University during the very drawn out restoration project. Does anyone out
there know if the trails will open before summer is over?
Up in Tilden on Friday, we found a nice mixed flock on Vollmer Pk that
included three warbler species; two Orange-crowned, four Hermits, including one
adult male, and a Wilson's, giving the sense that migration is coming soon to the
land as it already has to the shore.
