My wife & I saw the loon at Cesar Chavez yesterday. I'm no loon expert,
but it looked like an immature red throated loon to me.
BUT
More important, when it raised up in the water & flapped its wings, and
it did this frequently, the wings looked very truncated. It looked like
a loon version of a thalidomide baby. Either it has a birth defect or it
has been captured & had its wings clipped. I find the latter guess very
unlikely.
